WEB SITE STATISTICS : CHANGES

How have my web site accesses changed over time?

This is one of the best questions to ask - how your accesses have changed over time gives some of the most reliable information. Has your site been busier since you ran that ad campaign promoting it? Does your site show seasonal variations? Are your site visitors visiting the site during the work day or during off hours?

select years Use the dropdown list at the top of the page and pick any month in any year and the Monthly View below will list the visitors, hits, etc. for all the months. Mouseover the bars in the bar chart and the numbers for each bar appear in a little popupbox. Compare monthly visits between the months and from year to year.

Click on Days of the Month to see the month broken down into each day. Check here for changes after public relations or advertising messages go out. Look for trends like heavy accesses at the start of each month.

To see how accesses vary throughout the week, go to "Days of Week" and take a look at the chart labeled per hour. Here you can see if people are visiting the site during Monday to Friday work week or on weekends. If you see that people tend to visit your site near the end of the week, then you might time your releases of new web pages to come out early in the week to maximize the number that will see the information.

The Hours link shows accesses by the hour over a 24 hour period central standard time. Look for higher bars indicating more accesses, that will usually be during daylight hours in the area where most of your users are. A flatter curve generally indicates more multi-time zone traffic (international perhaps).
